AI Academic Insights

Powered by Google Gemini, the AI Academic Insights module gives every student a personal academic advisor — analyzing attendance, marks, assignments, and test performance to deliver personalized, actionable guidance.

1. What the AI Receives

When a student clicks "Generate My Insights," the system collects the following data and sends it to the Gemini AI API:

  • Attendance Data: Subject-wise attendance percentages, total lectures held vs. attended, subjects below the threshold.
  • Marks Data: Component-wise marks for each subject, overall percentage, pass/fail status.
  • Assignments: Count of submitted vs. pending, late submissions, average feedback scores.
  • Test Performance: Scores across all online tests, average score, highest and lowest scoring tests.
  • Academic History: Performance trends from previous semesters (if available).

2. AI Analysis Output

The Gemini AI processes the academic snapshot and generates a rich, personalized report rendered in the student's portal.

2.1 Report Sections

Strengths

Subjects and areas where the student is performing well. Reinforces positive behavior.

Areas of Concern

Specific subjects or behaviors (e.g., low attendance in one subject, missed tests) that need immediate attention.

Action Plan

Concrete, prioritized steps the student should take this week — specific subject focus, attendance targets, and assignment priorities.

Trend Analysis

Whether performance is improving, declining, or stable compared to the previous semester.

2.2 Output Format

  • Response is markdown-rendered with bullet points, bold highlights, and section headers.
  • Key numbers (e.g., "74.3% attendance in Mathematics") are highlighted in a gold-tinted chip.
  • A "Regenerate" button allows the student to request a fresh analysis at any time — useful after attending more lectures or submitting assignments.
  • A timestamp shows when the current analysis was generated, so students know how recent the data is.

3. AI Chatbot Assistant

A conversational interface at the bottom of the insights page. Students can ask natural language questions about their academic data.

  • "How many more lectures do I need to attend in Physics to reach 75%?"
  • "Which assignment is due soonest?"
  • "What was my best test score this semester?"
  • "How does my attendance compare to last semester?"
  • "What should I focus on this week?"

The chatbot responds in plain English, pulling real-time data from the student's academic record. It does not fabricate data — all responses are grounded in the actual system records.

4. Privacy & BETA Notice

  • Data Privacy: Only the logged-in student's own data is sent to the AI. No other student's data is included. The AI does not store student data.
  • BETA Badge: A gold "BETA" badge on the panel reminds students that AI output is advisory and should be verified. Official academic records take precedence.
  • No AI Grading: The AI provides suggestions only. No AI-generated content is used for grading or official evaluation.

Benefit: Every student gets a personal AI academic advisor available 24/7 — reducing routine queries to office staff ("Sir, what's my attendance?") by over 50%. The action plan feature gives students a clear to-do list instead of a vague sense of "I should study more."
